Where are all the primers?
Wednesday, November 11, 2020
Since the start of 2020, we have had extreme difficulty obtaining primers. Manufacturers are not suppling them in any sizable amounts to distributors and the distributors (when they get them) cannot keep them in stock for more than a few hours.
Although we’ve spoken to a few manufacturers over the past months, trying to get a handle on the situation, they all say the same thing. Primers are going to the manufacturing side to fulfill the high demand for ammunition.
Do we see this changing soon? No, afraid not, since the election (as of today) is undecided, it will be awhile before you see any change in the primer or bullet supply.
For a detailed look, take a look at this Guns and Ammo article, Great Primer Shortage of 2020.

I just don't get it. Anytime in the past when an item was in short supply and in great demand, industry got it in gear and met the demand. Toilet paper, disinfectant, food stuffs, and during WW2 a ship was built in a week. Screw the politicians! Meet the demands of the people. The politicians didn't put the guns and ammo manufacturer's where they are, the people did! We are not a communist country(yet) so I say this to the companies providing the services the American sportsman so desperately need. "Damn the torpedos, full speed ahead". It's time to get it in gear and if need be expand those assembly lines as in the past to meet the current needs.
Hmmm! 300,000,000 Americans/ sportsmen, 579 politicians. You do the math.
Thanks for the information on the primers. Please keep me informed Thanks
