.300 PRC Once-Fired Brass for Reloading

The .300 PRC (Precision Rifle Cartridge) is a modern .30-caliber magnum rifle cartridge developed by Hornady with an emphasis on long-range precision shooting. Accepted by SAAMI in 2018, the cartridge was designed around long, heavy-for-caliber bullets and has become established for long-range target shooting, competition, and hunting applications.

US Reloading Supply offers .300 PRC once-fired brass for reloaders who want to inspect, sort, and prepare their own cases for reloading.

Quality Standards & Processing (Click to expand)

US Reloading Supply sorts .300 PRC once-fired brass to remove cases with readily identifiable defects that make them unusable. Because no inspection process is perfect and previously fired brass can vary in condition, every case should still be individually inspected by the reloader before processing or use.

This brass is washed and polished by USRS. Minor cosmetic variations may remain after cleaning, including differences in coloration, staining, water spots, or other cleaning or handling marks. These cosmetic differences are normal with recovered range brass and do not necessarily indicate that a case is unsuitable for reloading.

No additional processing is performed by USRS. Case preparation remains the responsibility of the reloader.

Reloading Notes (Click to expand)

As with other previously fired bottleneck rifle cases, .300 PRC brass should be individually inspected before reloading. Reloaders should examine the case neck, shoulder, body, case head, and primer pocket for damage or other conditions that could make an individual case unsuitable for continued use. Case length and other relevant dimensions should be checked during case preparation and compared with applicable specifications and current reloading guidance.

Because this product is mixed headstamp, cases from different manufacturers or production lots may vary in characteristics such as case weight, internal capacity, and primer-pocket characteristics. Reloaders seeking greater consistency, particularly for precision applications, may choose to sort their brass before load development or assembly.

Always use current published reloading data from reputable component or equipment manufacturers, and follow the instructions provided by the manufacturers of your firearm, dies, and other reloading equipment.

Cartridge Information (Click to expand)

Hornady developed the .300 PRC (Precision Rifle Cartridge) as a modern .30-caliber magnum optimized for long, heavy-for-caliber bullets and long-range precision shooting. The cartridge is based on the .375 Ruger case and uses a non-belted case design with a .532-inch magnum bolt face. Rather than using a belt for headspacing, the .300 PRC headspaces on its 30-degree shoulder.

The Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers’ Institute (SAAMI) accepted the .300 PRC for standardization in 2018. SAAMI identified long-range precision shooting as the primary focus of the cartridge's design while also recognizing target, match, and hunting applications.

The cartridge also gained military interest shortly after its commercial introduction. In December 2018, Hornady announced that the U.S. Department of Defense had selected the .300 PRC for an extended-long-range sniper program and awarded Hornady a contract to supply .300 PRC ammunition.

The .300 PRC combines a non-belted case design, a 3.700-inch maximum overall cartridge length, and geometry intended to accommodate long, heavy-for-caliber .30-caliber bullets. These design characteristics support the cartridge's intended use in long-range precision applications.

Frequently Asked Questions (Click to expand)

Is this .300 PRC brass ready to load?

No. This brass has been washed and polished but is otherwise unprocessed. Each case should be inspected and appropriately prepared before loading.

Has this .300 PRC brass been de-primed?

No. US Reloading Supply has not removed the spent primers from this product.

Does this .300 PRC brass use Boxer primer pockets?

Yes. This product uses Boxer primer pockets.

Is this .300 PRC brass mixed headstamp?

Yes. This product is not sorted by headstamp. If military-production cases exist for this cartridge, they may be included.

Can the brass have crimped primer pockets?

Yes. USRS does not sort this product according to the presence or absence of a primer-pocket crimp. Military and some commercial cartridge cases may use primer-pocket crimps.

Should I sort mixed-headstamp .300 PRC brass before reloading?

That depends on the reloader's objectives and process. Cases from different manufacturers or production lots can differ in characteristics such as case weight, internal capacity, and primer-pocket characteristics. Reloaders seeking greater consistency, particularly for precision applications, may choose to sort cases by headstamp before load development or assembly.

How many times can .300 PRC brass be reloaded?

There is no fixed number. Case life depends on the individual case, firearm, load, chamber dimensions, sizing practices, and other factors. Reloaders should inspect every case before each loading and discard any case that shows signs making it unsuitable for continued use.

Can this brass be used for precision or long-range ammunition?

Previously fired .300 PRC brass can be prepared and used for a variety of reloading applications, including precision and long-range shooting. The suitability of an individual case should be determined by the reloader after inspection and appropriate case preparation. Reloaders pursuing greater consistency may choose to sort mixed-headstamp brass before use.

How many .300 PRC cases are included?

Each package contains 50 cases. Most once-fired brass orders include approximately 2–3% additional brass.

Does “once-fired” mean every case has been fired exactly once?

No. “Once-fired brass” is the industry term used for previously fired cartridge cases and does not guarantee that every individual case has been fired exactly one time. Additional information about our once-fired brass is available on our Brass Information page.
