Just received my second order of 5,000 pieces, all were in pretty good condition. Did have a few with the small flash holes and a couple of berdan slipped through. Spoke with Jim about it and learned that the small flash holes are becoming more and more common and the berdans are due to the influx of overseas ammo.
So I bought a smaller Lee decapper pin and that fixed my problem. My friend brought some over yesterday that he had collected at the range, and sure enough, some of those were berdan and some were small flash hole too. On the berdans, I just decap real slow with a Lee universal die, and if I use too much pressure, the pin pushes up, but doesn't break, then I check for berdan. Only had 1 out of 5,000+, so it was not a biggy. Bought some from one of their local competitors and even though they said they checked for them, found quite a few more. Now that I know, I haven't broken a pin in over 10,000 rounds, and am quite happy about that. Looking forward to the next batch and some more great shooting now that I am retired. Appreciate the fact that US Reloading doesn't just sell the brass and bullets but are reloaders too, and can often times point me in the right direction when I get hung up on an issue.
Todd, glad to see it is all working out for you and that the Lee pin fixed the problem. Yeah, a few years back, we saw very little Berdan and very, very few small flash holes, but now several US manufacturers are doing it too, like Norma. Might want to try Mighty Armory dies/pins, as they have a 1 year warranty on them for non-commercial use I think. That is what you saw us using in our RL-1100 the a few weekends ago when you came in.
