.308 Bullets, .308 Brass and Reloading Supplies

Jump to Products Below

30 caliber (.308 bullets) are extremely popular because they normally range from .308 to .309 diameter and cover a wide range of cartridges. From the ever-popular 308 Winchester, 30 Carbine, 30-30, 30-06, to the 300 Whisper, 30-378 Weatherby, 7.63 Mauser, and 30 USA, and dozens more this is a very popular size bullet for both NATO and U.S. civilian use.

Developed originally by the US Army for as the 308 Winchester to replace the heavier 30-06 round. The 308 has since become one of the most popular rounds in the world, for both civilian and military needs. Once Fired .308 brass can be reloaded with a variety of smokeless powders, which is no wonder it is one of the most popular NATO rounds, the 7.62mm x 51mm. The difference between the .308 Winchester and the 7.62 NATO is roughly equivalent to the difference between the .223 Remington and the 5.56 NATO. Internally, the 7.62 has a slightly thicker case to allow for higher pressure. The rule of thumb is that you can shoot a .308 in a 7.62 gun, but don't shoot a 7.62 factory round in a .308 rifle. Also, like most military brass, the NATO rounds normally have a crimped primer. For a beginner, a crimped primer appears to be a real problem to remove and process the primer pocket, but for an experienced reloader, it is no problem at all when reloading the 308.

Another point to remember, the 30 cal bullet or 308 bullets for reloading, are projectile tips or bullet heads, they can't just be put into a gun and fired. They are one of the four components necessary to make 308 ammo which is a 'live' cartridge (ammunition). So make sure you are really shopping for what you expect the product to do, if you want 'ready to fire' then you are looking for 'ammo' or 'ammuntion'.

Common 308 reloading bullets weight from the low 100's up through 200 grains. The medium weights, 150 through 170, are favored for deer hunting, and the lighter ones, great for varmint hunting. Below are the items related to reloading the 308 brass we currently have in-stock.
